Technique 5:              How do I lean while turning / cornering?

Fig 1: Lean WITH the bike at normal speeds
Fig 2: Counterweight when doing slow, tight turns

• At speeds that provide a good gyro-affect (speeds in access of 10 MPH), you’ll want to lean like the rider in Fig 1 — lean with the bike.

Fig 2 shows a rider doing a tight, slow turn (like in a parking lot).  He is using the counterweight technique — keeping his body upright while he makes the bike lean under him. This maneuver requires an exaggerated head turn to see where you want to go (basically behind you), and more wheel turn to make the bike turn in the shortest possible arc. Once exposed to the technique you will amaze yourself at how tight a turn you can make.
